5 Days Rwanda Uganda Double Trek

Day 1: Transfer to Volcanoes national park

On arrival in Kigali at Kigali International airport, you will be warmly received by our guide, he will give you a briefing on what to except on this safari and go for a Kigali City tour visiting the Kigali Genocide Center where you will learn about the horrific 1997 Rwanda Genocide.

After lunch, you will transfer to Volcanoes national park in Ruhengeri on a drive of about 2 hours, the park is a home to over 360 endangered mountain gorillas. You will arrive in the evening. Proceed to check into your lodge, have dinner and stay overnight as you get ready for the next day’s adventure.

Day 2: Mountain Gorilla Tracking and transfer back to Kigali.
after early breakfast, you will transfer to the park’s headquarters in Kinigi for briefing  about mountain gorilla trekking, the ranger will take through the rules and regulations to follow during this activity and during your stay with gorillas. You will also be grouped into 8 people and be assigned a gorilla group to trek, the trekking takes about 2-6 hours depending on the movement of the gorilla family you are trekking and where they spent the night.

The trek involves hiking a number of hills and the whole experience is tedious but very impressive when you finally come face to face with mountain gorillas, you will spend one hour while observing these endangered gorilla members in the family as they go about day to day life activities such as mothers caring for the little ones, juveniles playing and feeding. You will also take amazing pictures as long as you turn the flash of your camera off.

After the trek, you will head back to the park headquarters, then to go to your lodge for lunch. Later check out and embark on a drive back to Kigali City where you will have dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Drive Time: 4 Hours’ Drive.  

 after breakfast at your hotel in Kigali City, you will be met by our guide and after briefing you about your tour. You will head to Kigali City for a short city tour exploring the cleanliest city in Africa and visit some of the important sites like the Genocide War Memorial Centers, Kimironko Market among others.

Then embark on a journey of 4 hours to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park through the Katuna (Uganda – Rwanda border), after clearing with the authorities at the Katuna Border, you will head to Ruhija Sector in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. This journey will give a chance to see the beautiful countryside and landscapes in Rwanda and Uganda.

Rwanda has eye-catching rolling hills and plantations while Uganda has dense green forest around the Bwindi area. Arrive in the park in the evening, check into your lodge for dinner and overnight. Buhoma Lodge – Luxury, Buhoma Haven Lodge – midrange, Buhoma Community Camp – Budget

Day 4: Dec: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Optional Batwa Pygmy Cultural Tour

Wake up early to a sumptuous breakfast and then proceed for a transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing session and then gorilla family allocation in groups of 8. After, you shall embark on the search of the gorillas, in a gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park adventure in the company of a park ranger and guides.

Once you do locate the gorillas, you shall spend one hour with the gorillas observing their characters and behaviors as well as activities which are so human-like. Take as many photos as you may want, make videos as well as take time to just experience the moments without the lenses.  After, you shall trek back, and then return to the lodge.

You can choose to spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing at the lodge, or go for a Batwa pygmy cultural experience to learn about the former inhabitants of the park. Dinner and overnight stay as above.

Day 5 Dec: Departure

Drive Time: 7-9 Hours Drive. Flight Option available

On this last day of the gorilla trek, you shall wake up to an early breakfast at the lodge and then proceed to check out for your departure back to Entebbe, where your driver guide shall transfer you to the airport for your outbound flight, or hotel in Kampala. En-route from Bwindi Impenetrable National Park you shall have a stopover for lunch.
