Akagera National Park is the only savannah national park in Rwanda found in North Eastern Region of the country, this beautiful park is also one of the biggest parks in the country dominated by swamps and small lakes including Lake Ihema and smaller lakes. The park gets its name from Akagera River which flows long the eastern boundary of Rwanda and Tanzania.
Akagera National Park is home to a variety of wildlife including elephants, buffalos, giraffe, zebras, leopards, hyenas, lions and several antelope species like bushbucks, Topis, Oribis, water-buck, roan antelope and duiker, klipspringer, impala and world largest antelope – the Cape eland. The park is also home to primate species like olive baboons, Vervet monkeys, blue monkeys and bush babies.

Detailed Itinerary of 3 Days Akagera National Park Wildlife Safari
Day 1: Transfer to Akagera national park
After breakfast at your hotel in Kigali City or upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be picked up by our representative (your safari – driver guide) and after a short briefing you will embark on a journey to Akagera National Park.
On arrival at the park, you will check in to your lodge and enjoy a delicious lunch. Later you will proceed head to Lake Ihema for a boat trip safari on which you will watch hippos, crocodiles and several water birds such as herons, pelicans among others.

Day 2: Game drive in Akagera national park
After breakfast, you will head to the park for a full day game drive. From the custom-made safari Landcruiser you will explore Akagera national park on several trails running through the savannah grasslands, you will watch a variety of wildlife including elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, Topis, zebras, impalas, lions among others.
At lunch you will return to the lodge and later return to the park for another game drive exploring till sunset. In the evening, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Return to Kigali
After a leisurely breakfast, you will return to Kigali with en-route game drive through the park. When you arrive in Kigali City, you will be dropped off either at the hotel or at airport for your departure flight back home.
