Detailed itinerary of 8 Days Uganda Safari

Day 1: Kampala to Bwindi

Your driver guide will pick you up from your hotel in Kampala/Entebbe or Entebbe International Airport upon arrival and start your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park which is about 10 hours of drive.

Along the way, you will see a great country side. Have a stopover visit at the Equator in Kayabwe for photography and in Mbarara town for lunch. Proceed to the park driving through the beautiful rolling hills of Kabale adorned with terraces, arrive in the evening, and check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park- Gorilla tracking

Enjoy early morning breakfast, meet our driver and head to park headquarters for briefing by the senior park ranger guide. In groups of 8 people, you will be assigned a gorilla family to trek and head into the forests of Bwindi looking for the gorillas. Gorilla trekking takes a about 2 to 6 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas, with a help of a ranger guide you will locate the gorillas and after locating them. You are allowed to spend one hour with the gorillas enjoying the most exciting and emotional moment with them, observe the gentle giants as they feed, groom their young ones and play.

You will head back to the park headquarters to pick your gorilla certificates and head either to your lodge for an evening of relaxation or head to the Batwa community for a visit. Visit a traditional herbalist, black smith, a local brewery and see how beer is brewed using local methods, enjoy traditional dances and drama  others. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Have early morning breakfast, drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park passing through traditional homesteads and farms. You will have lunch along the way and continue to Queen Elizabeth National Park through the southern part of the park (Ishasha Sector) as you look out for the tree climbing lions resting on fig trees. You will also see other animals such as waterbucks and buffaloes among other grazing in the Ishasha plains.

Continue to the upper park on an evening game drive, check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Queen Elizabeth National Park

Wake up early for breakfast and head to the park for a morning game drive on which you will enjoy sight for the early raisers like the leopard, lions, spotted hyenas among others.

Qyeen Elizabeth National Park has diverse ecosystem of grassy plains, tropical forest, rivers, swamps, lakes and volcanic craters which are home to an incredible abundance of wildlife. As you drive on the Kasenyi trail, lookout for animals like buffaloes, elephants, warthogs, topis, kobs, waterbucks, bushbucks, bush duikers among others and several bird species such as woodland kingfisher and martial eagle.

Return to the lodge for lunch, later head to Kazinga Channel for a boat cruise. This water channel connecting Lake George to Lake Edward is home to a variety of water birds including the African Fish eagle, the African Skimmer, pelican, the pre-historic looking shoe bill and mammals along its banks such as elephants, buffaloes and warthogs bathing and drinking water at the edge.

Day 5: Queen Elizabeth National Park to Kibale National Park.

After a leisurely breakfast, you will transfer to Kibale Forest with e-route game drive. Kibale National Park is known as home to the chimpanzees, along the way you will pass through Kasese as you enjoy the captivating sight of the Rwenzori glacial peaks.

Also, you may have a chance to visit the Sempaya Hot Springs of Semuliki whose steams and evaporation can be seen 2 km away from hot springs itself. Arrive in Kibale in time for lunch, in the afternoon your will embark on a nature walk through Bigodi Wetland for primate and bird watching. Return to the lodge for dinner ad overnight.

Day 6: Kibale Forest National park- Chimpanzee tracking.

Wake up early for breakfast and report to the park headquarters with your packed lunch for briefing by an expert park guide. Head into the forests of Kibale in search for chimpanzees – man’s cousins of all the apes in the vast forest. You are most likely to sight other primates like olive baboons, leopards, buffaloes, duikers, golden cats, bonobos, red colobus, black and white colobus monkeys, red and blue monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabey among others as well as various bird species.

The trek takes approximately 2 to 6 hours depending on the movement of the chimpanzees, when you locate the chimpanzees you will spend one hour watching them go on with their life in the forest, babies playing and other grooming each other.

After this magical experience, you will head to your lodge for lunch and later head to the crater lakes of Ndali for a guided nature walk. Later return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Kibale Forest National Park to Murchison falls National Park.

Wake up early for your breakfast, checkout of your lodge and embark on a journey to Murchison Falls National Park, along the way you will have lunch and when you arrive in the park. You will proceed go for a sunset cruise on River Nile or drive to the top of the falls here you will enjoy the calm Nile and its beauty or forcing its might self through the narrow 8 meter gorge. Head to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 8: Murchison Falls to Kampala.

Wake up early and head to the park for an early morning game drive to catch sight of early risers like hyenas, giraffes, velvet monkeys, warthogs, herds of elephants, lions, jackals and so many. You will also encounter many bird species.

Return to the lodge for a full breakfast, exit the park and embark on a journey back to Kampala. Have lunch in Masindi and proceed to Kampala where your drive will drop you to your agreed place.
