Detailed Itinerary of 7 Days Uganda Safari

Day 1: Kampala – Kibale National Park

To start your safari, you will be picked up at the Entebbe International Airport upon arrival or at your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe after breakfast and embark on a journey to Kibale National Park – the primate capital of Africa.

You will have lunch in Fort Portal and head to the crater lakes area of the park for outstanding guided walk, you enjoy scenic views of the beautiful lakes. Head to your lodge for check-in, have dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking Kibale

Have early morning breakfast and transfer to Kibale Headquarters for briefing conducted by a ranger guide, head into the forest in search for chimpanzees led by ranger guides. The trek in the rainforest of Kibale takes approximately 2 to 4 hours depending on the movement of the chimpanzees and where they spent their previous night. The walk will reward you with other primates such as like Grey cheeked Mangabeys, Colobus monkeys, Red-tailed monkeys and butterflies.

When you locate the chimpanzees, you will be allowed to spend one hour in their presence taking pictures watching them go on with their life in the forest, grooming each other and picking fruits and take pictures.

After the trek, you will head back to your lodge for lunch and in the afternoon. You will go for a nature walk to the Bigodi Swamp to see unique flora and fauna.

Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Kibale National Park – Queen Elizabeth National Park

Begin your day with a leisure breakfast, checkout of your lodge and drive to the south into Queen Elizabeth National Park arriving in time for lunch at your lodge after check-in.

In the afternoon, you will go for an afternoon game drive in search for animals like lions, leopards, cape buffaloes, gazelles, antelopes among others. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Queen Elizabeth National Park

Enjoy breakfast and head to the park for a morning game drive, Queen Elizabeth National Park is home to abundance of wildlife including four of the Big Five – lions, leopards, cape buffaloes and elephants. There are over 638 recorded bird species including papyrus gonolek, red-chested sunbird, pink-backed pelican, saddle-billed stork, and African skimmer among others.

Have lunch at your lodge and in the afternoon, you will enjoy a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel which connect Lake Edward and Gorge. You will see hippos and Nile crocodiles in the waters of the channel and animals such as herons, cormorants, crested crane and saddle-bellied stork among others.

Day 5: Queen Elizabeth National Park – Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Have a leisurely breakfast and head to the Ishasha Sector famous for tree climbing lions for a game drive, during the game drive you will see these rare species of lions resting on fig tree. In addition to lions, you will see many other animals including zebras, buffaloes, and several antelope species such as Topis, Bushbucks, Defassa waterbucks, sitatungas and duikers among others.

Later embark on a journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park with en-route lunch, arrive in the park in the evening, and check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Bwindi Gorilla Trekking

Wake up early for breakfast and head to the park headquarters with your packed lunch box, meet other visitors for briefing from the UWA Staff and head to the starting point in groups of 8 people in search for a gorilla family allocated to you.

The trek takes approximately 2 to 6 hours depending on the movement of the gorilla family and where they spent their previous night, as the guide leads you through the jungle you will see other primates creatures including forest elephants, birds and chimpanzees. When you locate the gorillas, you are allowed to spend only 1 hour in their presence taking pictures and watching them go on with their life in forest.

Return to the park headquarters to pick your gorilla trekking certificate, meet your guide and head either to your lodge or to the Batwa Village for a cultural experience where you will interact with the local people, be entertained by local dances and drama among others.

Day 7: Bwindi Forest – Kampala / Entebbe

After a leisurely breakfast, you will check out and embark on a drive to Kampala with enroute lunch and stopover at Igongo culture center to explore the lifestyle of the Ankole and Bahima people. When you reach Kampala, you will be dropped off at your hotel or at Entebbe International Airport for your onward flight.
