This 3 days Rwanda gorilla trekking safari offers you a once – in- a life – time encounter with Rwanda’s Gentle Giants – Mountain gorillas in their natural habitat, in Rwanda mountain gorillas are found in Volcanoes national park and that is where Rwanda gorilla trekking takes place.

On this safari, you will spend one hour in the presence of mountain gorillas and you will watch them go on with their daily in the forest, also you will enjoy the scenic views of the Virunga Volcanoes and encounter the local people on the Gorilla guardian’s village.

Day 1: Travel to Volcanoes National Park

Detailed itinerary of 3 Days Rwanda Gorilla Trekking Safari

Day 1: Travel to Volcanoes National Park

On arrival at Kigali International City, you will be warmly welcomed by our representative and after a short briefing, you will go for a short Kigali City visiting some of the major historic and cultural sites including the Kigali Genocide Memorial Center, Crafts Markets in Kigali, Kandt National Museum and Presidential Museum depending entirely on your time of arrival.

After lunch, you will proceed to Kinigi, Musanze. Arrive in the park in evening, check-in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Mountain Gorilla Trekking

After breakfast, you will head to the park’s headquarters by 06:00 am with your packed lunch and enough water, you should be at the park’s headquarters by 07:00 am for registration, briefing and allocation of gorilla group while enjoying a cup of coffee or tea and being entertained by cultural dancers on site.

After briefing and the gorilla trekking allocated to you, you will head to the starting point which is normally situated in a short distance from park’s headquarters, enter into the jungle looking for mountain gorillas. The trek usually takes 2 to 6 hours or more depending on the movement of mountain gorillas and where they spent their previous night.

As you hike through the forest, you will spot other primates such as black and white colobus monkeys and many birds, when you locate the gorillas, you will spend 1 hour maximum in presence of these fascinating gentle giants as they go about their daily routine, feeding, grooming each other, resting and the young ones playing.

After one hour, you will hike out of the forested slopes of Volcanoes national park, head to the park’s headquarters to pick your gorilla trekking certificates, meet your guide and transfer back to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: transfer back to Kigali City

After breakfast, you will head to the Gorilla guardians Village for a cultural experience and an interaction with the local people where you will be entertained by traditional dances, learn ancient hunting skills, weaving baskets, mats, carpentry, see what their life was in a typical African village setting including dressing code, food, herbs and how their ancient kingdoms were generally organized.

After lunch, you will drive back to Kigali city where you will be dropped off either at the hotel or at the airport for your international flight back home.
