This 10 days gorilla tour will start in Uganda and end in Rwanda. This will offer you the opportunity to double-track mountain Gorillas in Uganda and Rwanda as well as lowland gorillas in DR Congo. Below is the itinerary.
TOUR ITINERARY: 10 Days of great Adventure in Africa
Day 1: Arrival in Uganda (Entebbe airport)
On arrival, you will be met by our company 10 Days African Gorilla To representative who will transfer you to your hotel in Kampala. He will brief you about your safari, and all the necessary information. Dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Transfer to Bwindi National park.
After breakfast, you will begin the journey southwestwards to Bwindi impenetrable national park. On the way, you will have a stopover at the equator line for photography and do some shopping along the way. Have en-route lunch in Mbarara before continuing the scenic drive to Kabale, also known as the “Switzerland of Africa” and later proceed to Bwindi impenetrable national park. Dinner and overnight at Buhoma community bandas.
Day 3: Gorilla tracking.
In the morning, you will move to the park headquarters with your packed lunch and necessary trekking gear, where you will be briefed about the dos and don’ts while with the Gorillas. Proceed to the forest for the memorable adventure of Gorilla tracking. The trekking will take 2-6 hours depending on the movement of the animals in their natural environment. Meet and stay with the animals for a maximum of one hour, and then descend to the park and transfer to the hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park-Rwanda.
After your breakfast, you will travel to the Rwanda border, and do the clearing before continuing to Volcanoes national park in the Northern part of Rwanda. You will then check into your hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Gorilla tracking.
This is the second Gorilla tracking adventure day! Move to the park headquarters with your packed lunch and trekking gear for briefing and then proceed to the forest to track the amazing apes. This takes you through a thick and slippery environment; get ready to get yourself dirt. Track the animals for 2-8 hours, and stay with the animals for a maximum of one hour. Descend to the headquarters and transfer to your hotel. Dinner and overnight.
Day 6: Dian Fossey’s grave/Golden Monkey trekking.
On this day, you will either go for Golden monkey trekking in the forest, where you will also see a variety of wildlife. Golden monkeys are one of the rare species of monkeys and can be found in this park. The guide will be in a position to answer all your desirable questions. Alternatively, you will take a hike to Karaoke research Centre where there Dian Fossey spent years researching and conserving the Mountain Gorillas before she was murdered. Her grave is at the research centre. You will also learn more about the life of the gorillas and their work. Descend to your hotel, and in the evening, have cultural entertainment by the Banyarwanda.
Day 7: Transfer to Bukavu-DR Congo.
In the morning, you will have a long scenic journey to Bukavu in DR Congo, crossing via the Cyangungu border. The journey will take you through the vast Nyungwe forest, with a view of Lake Kivu on the exit of the forest. Dinner and overnight in Bukavu.
Day 8: Low land Gorilla Tracking.
In the morning, you will travel to Kausi Biega National park to track the lowland gorillas. These gorillas differ from the Mountain gorillas in body size and features. Tracking will take2-5 hours. Later return to Bukavu for relaxation in your hotel. Dinner and overnight.
Day 9: Transfer to Kigali.
In the morning, start a long journey back to Kigali. You will have stopover visits to Butale Museum, the genocide memorial, and the traditional King’s palace in Nyanza. Reach Kigali in the evening. Dinner and overnight.
Day 10: City Tour and departure.
In the morning, depending on your departure flight schedule, you will have a city tour where you will visit the museum, the genocide memorial centre and the local markets. Do the necessary shopping, and later transfer to the airport for your flight to the next destination.
