This 6 Days Gorilla and Wildlife Safari takes you on an exploration adventure in Uganda’s fascinating destinations that is Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Lake Mburo National Park and Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Detailed Itinerary of 6 Days Gorilla and Wildlife Safari

Day 1: Welcome to the Pearl of Africa and transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

On arrival in Uganda – The Pearl of Africa at Entebbe International Airport, you will be welcomed by our guide and after a short briefing you will embark on a drive to Lake Mburo National Park with a stopover at Kayabwe for pictures and a chance to stand in both Northern and Southern Hemispheres at one place.

When arrive in the park, you will check in at your lodge for lunch and in the afternoon go for a boat cruise on Lake Mburo with a short game drive. As you cruise on the lake, you will see many animals such as hippos in the waters of the lake and many water birds such as herons, cormorants among others. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Travel to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Enjoy breakfast then go for a morning game drive in the savannah plains of Lake Mburo National Park searching for various animals including zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, elands among others.

With your packed lunch, you will embark on a journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park arriving in late evening. Check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: The Uganda Gorilla trekking Experience in Bwindi Forest

Wake up early for breakfast, then head to the park headquarters for briefing about gorilla trekking conducted by a ranger guide. In groups of 8 people, you will be assigned a gorilla family to trek, head to the starting point and enter into the forest of Bwindi looking for mountain gorillas.

The trek through the forest takes approximately 2 to 6 hours depending on the movement of mountain gorillas and where they spent their previous night, along the trek you will spot other animals in the forest including birds and chimpanzees. When you locate the gorillas, you will be welcomed by the fascinating sight of their huge bodies and human like behaviors. You will be allowed to spend one hour within the presence of the gorillas watching the interact with each other, babies playing on silverbacks and take pictures as long as your flashlight is off.

Return to the park headquarters to pick your gorilla trekking certificate, meet your guide and head either to your lodge for relaxation or to the Batwa Community for a cultural experience. The Batwa Pygmy people originally stayed in the forests of Bwindi for over thousands of years , but now live in the areas surrounding the park. On your visit, you will be entertained by local dances and drama, visit the local medicine man and get a taste of local meals among others. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Have a leisurely breakfast, check out of your lodge and start the journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park – the most famous park in Uganda, the drive will take you through Ishasha where you will see the tree climbing lions resting on branches of fig trees.

There are many theories to why the lions climb trees, they climb trees to rest, experience the winds and also to easily watch their prey because of the high savannah grass. Along the lions, you will see other animals like elephants, buffaloes, kobs, Topi, waterbucks and several bird species.  Head to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5:  Game drive and Boat Safari in Queen Elizabeth national park

Have early breakfast and head to the park for a morning game drive, Queen Elizabeth National Park is home to a diversity of flora and fauna and great scenery of ridges, forest and crater lakes in Rwenzori Mountains in the background.

During the game drive, you will have a chance to spot predators including elephants, lions, leopards, buffaloes and Uganda Kobs among others.

In the afternoon, you will enjoy a launch cruise on Kazinga Channel a water stream connecting Lake Edward to Lake George. You will watch different wild animals like hippos and crocodiles in the waters and numerous species of birds including herons, egrets among others.

Day 6: Transfer Back to Kampala

After breakfast, you will check out of your lodge and with en-route game drive. You will embark on a journey back to Kampala with en-route lunch. On arriving, you will be dropped off either at the hotel or at the Airport for your onward flight.
