This 6 Days Rwanda and Uganda Gorilla Habituation Safari is a combined Rwanda and Uganda safari, on this safari you will have the opportunity to explore the beautiful Kigali City, visit and explore Akagera National Park for sightings of wildlife including the Big Five and take part in gorilla habituation exploration for 4 hours of being with mountain gorillas.
This safari starts and ends in Kigali City.

Detailed itinerary of 6 Days Rwanda & Uganda Gorilla Habituation Safari
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali
On arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our guide and transfer you to your hotel in Kigali City for dinner and overnight stay,

Day 2 Kigali City Tour
Have breakfast and go for a city tour in Kigali City visiting Ntarama & Nyamata Genocide Memorials and Reconciliation village. After lunch, you will embark on a drive to Akagera National Park arriving in the late afternoon. Check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Game Drive in Akagera National Park
Have early breakfast and head to the park for a full day game drive departing at 5:00 am, you will spend the whole exploring the savannah plains of Akagera national park and enjoying sight of various animals such as giraffes, lions, leopards, buffaloes, elands, zebras among others.
After picnic lunch, you will head to Lake Ihema for a boat ride. On this thrilling cruise, you will catch sight of herds of animals such as buffaloes and elephants along the shores of the lake and various water birds such as herons. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Transfer to Kisoro, Uganda
After breakfast, you will checkout of the lodge and embark on a drive to Kisoro in Uganda with en-route lunch. When you arrive in Kisoro that is in the evening, you will check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5 Gorilla Habituation Experience.
Have early breakfast and head to the park’s headquarters in Rushaga Sector for a gorilla habituation experience which lasts for 4 hours, at the park’s headquarters a ranger will take you through the rules and regulations to follow. In groups of 8 people together with rangers, scientists and researchers, you will head into the forests of Bwindi looking for the semi-habituated gorilla family you are trekking.
On this experience, you will take part in habituation process together with trained researchers. This involves studying their individual behavior by trained researchers who visit these wild apes every day to analyze the best way they can relate and communicate with the gorillas. In the long run, the wild gorillas learn to get used to human presence, give them names and during the interaction, they would be at ease with human presence.
Unlike gorilla trekking, gorilla habituation experience lasts 4 hours and is limited to only 4 people. Return to the lodge and spend the rest of the day relaxing. Have dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Departure
After breakfast, you will checkout of the lodge and embark on a drive back to Kigali City with border crossing at Cyanika or Katuna. You will be dropped off at the airport for your flight back home.
