D etailed itinerary of 5 Days Uganda Primate Safari
Day 1: Transfer to Kibale National Park
After breakfast at your hotel or upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our guide. He will give a short briefing about the safari, then embark on a journey of 4 to 5 hours of drive through the amazing country side.
You will have a stop in Fort Portal for lunch then have a short city tour, Fort Portal is an extremely beautiful town recognized as a Tourism City. You will visit the Palace of the King of Toro where you will learn about the Toro Kingdom which is under the leadership of a young ruler and cultural practices.
Proceed to Kibale National Park arriving in the evening, check in at your lodge and have a restful evening. Have dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking and visiting the Bigodi Swamp
Wake up early for a cup of coffee and head to the park’s headquarters for briefing about chimpanzee trekking, a ranger will share with you important information about chimpanzee trekking and how to conduct yourself during this activity.
Chimpanzees are vey mobile and rare primate species and they cannot stay in one place. Chimpanzee live in groups, they are very local and very dramatic. Each group is led by a dominant chimp who is always vigilant against stubborn members of the group.
The trek through Kibale Forest takes approximately 3-5 hours and you are allowed to stay 1 hour in the presence of the chimpanzees, in one hour you will observe the behaviors of the chimpanzees, watch them play on tree branches and take amazing pictures. Then trek back to the park’s headquarters where you will meet your driver-guide and return to your lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, you will head to the Bigodi Swamp for a nature walk where you will spot more primate species such chimpanzees, olive baboons, black and white colobus monkeys and many birds. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi National Park – Nature Walk and Relaxation around your lodge
After breakfast, you will embark on a journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. You will arrive in time for lunch and your lodge after check-in. In the afternoon, you will have a nature walk in the forests of Bwindi. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Mountain gorilla trekking – Batwa Pygmies visit
Wake up early for breakfast and head to the park’s headquarters for briefing start at 07:00 am, a ranger guide will take you through rules and regulations to follow while in the forest and in the presence of mountain gorillas.
In groups of 8 people, you will be assigned a gorilla family to trek and head into the forests of Bwindi looking for mountain gorillas. The trek through the forests of Bwindi takes approximately 3 to 4 hours or more depending on the gorilla family you are trekking and where they spent their previous night.
When you locate the gorilla family, you will be permitted to spend one hour in the presence of the gorilla family watching them go on with their daily life and take amazing pictures.
Return to your lodge for lunch and in the afternoon, you will go for a cultural visit to the Batwa community where you will be entertained by local dances and drama, visit the herbalists, and witnessing the making of local brew. In the evening, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Transfer back to Kampala for departure
Wake up at your own time and have breakfast, then embark on your 8 hours journey back to Kampala. Along the way, you will pass through Mbarara town where you will have lunch and proceed to Kampala. You will be dropped off either at the hotel or at the airport to catch your flight back home.
