Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is the best place on the planet to see mountain gorillas, the park is located in southwestern Uganda and is home to the highest number of habituated gorilla families. On this 4 days Uganda Safari, you will visit one of these families and stay with them for one hour.

Detailed itinerary of 4 Days Uganda Safari – Lake Mburo Wildlife & Bwindi Gorilla Safari

Day 1: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park, Boat Safari & Game Drive

Your safari driver-guide – “our representative” shall pick you up from either Kampala or Entebbe at around 08:00 am and embark on a journey of 3-4 hours’ drive to Lake Mburo National Park, the closest park to Kampala – the capital of Uganda.

Along the way, you will have a remarkable stop at the Uganda Equator Crossing in Kayabwe where you get to stand in one leg in the Northern hemisphere and another in the Southern Hemisphere. This site makes for great photographs and memories.

Continue to Lake Mburo National Park arriving in time for lunch at your lodge after check-in, in the afternoon you will go for a game drive in the savannah plains of the park watching several animals including waterbucks, buffaloes, and giraffes among others. Later, you will go for a boat cruise on Lake Mburo – the biggest lake in the park to watch water animals such as hippos and crocodiles and birds for keen birders. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Morning safari walk and Transfer to Bwindi

After an early morning breakfast on Day 2 of your 4 Days Uganda – Lake Mburo Wildlife & Bwindi Gorilla Safari, you will go for a morning nature walk in Lake Mburo National Park. This is one of the most exciting game walks in Uganda, you are escorted by a knowledgeable local ranger guide who is very informatics about the park and its wildlife and birdlife.

On the walk, you will see various species of primates, birds and animals like common Eland, Waterbuck, Impala, Topi, Bushbuck and Klipspringer among others as well as Hyenas, Buffaloes, Giraffe, Zebra and Warthogs.

After this amazing walk, you will return to the lodge for lunch, check out and embark on a scenic journey of 4-5 hours’ drive southwest to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Arrive in the evening, check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking & Batwa Pygmies Cultural Experience

Wake up early for breakfast and head to the park’s headquarters from briefing starting at 08:00 am where a ranger from Uganda Wildlife Authority takes you through rules and regulations to follow while in Bwindi forest, in groups of 8 people you will be assigned a gorilla family to trek and head into the forests of Bwindi looking for the gorillas.

The trek to see gorillas can be relatively hard and the landscape is mountainous and steep but it is all worth it when you finally locate the gorillas, the trek can take 4-6 hours and have one hour of watching the rare mountain gorillas eat, groom, play or nap. You are can take pictures as long as your flash light is off.

Return to the park headquarters to meet your guide and head to your lodge for lunch, in the afternoon you will head to the Batwa Community for a cultural experience. This visit offers a deeper insight into the life of the Batwa people and you will be entertained by local dances and drama. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Travel Back to Kampala/Entebbe

Enjoy breakfast, checkout of the lodge and embark on a journey back to Kampala / Entebbe with stopover in Mbarara for lunch at Igongo Culture Centre. Arrive in Kampala in the late afternoon and be dropped off either at Entebbe International Airport for your flight back home or hotel in Entebbe or Kampala.
