Lake Mburo National Park is another Uganda safari destination to visit on this safari, Lake Mburo is the smallest savannah park in Uganda renowned for its large population of zebras and other wildlife species.

DETAILED ITINERARY OF 4 DAY GORILLA TREKKING AND LAKE MBURO UGANDA SAFARI

Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

On arrival at Entebbe International Airport or after breakfast at your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe, you will be picked up by our representative and transfer to Lake Mburo National Park. Depending on the time of your arrival, you will arrive in the time for lunch that is if you depart in the morning, after lunch at your lodge you will head to Lake Mburo for a boat cruise with a short game drive to the lake.

On the cruise, you will spot animals such as hippos, Nile crocodiles in the water and man water birds along the swamps surrounding the lake such as pied kingfisher, greater painted – snipe, malachite kingfisher among others. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Game drive in Lake Mburo National Park and transfer to Bwindi Forest

After breakfast at your lodge, you will head to the savanna plains for a fun filled game drive on which you will have a chance to see many animals including eland antelopes, huge numbers of zebras, topis, impalas, buffaloes and giraffes among other animals.

After the game drive, you will head to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park with en-route lunch. Along the way you will enjoy scenic views of Kisoro mountains. When you arrive in the park, you will check in at your lodge, have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 3: Gorilla trekking

Wake up early for breakfast and head to the park’s headquarters for briefing about gorilla trekking and the proper to conduct yourself while in the presence of mountain gorillas, you will be grouped in 8 people and be assigned a gorilla family to trek then head to a starting point.

Head into the jungle with armed rangers and guides looking for mountain gorillas, the trek takes approximately 2 – 6 hours depending on the movement of mountain gorillas and their feeding range. When you encounter these gentle giants, you will spend 1 hour observing these gentle giants as they go on with their life in the forest. You are allowed to take pictures as long as your flashlight is off.

Trek back to the park’s headquarters to pick your gorilla trekking certificates and head either to your lodge or to the Batwa Community for an encounter with the Batwa pygmy forest people, interact with them and participate is several local activities like demonstration of their high skilled hunting, be entertained by local dance and drama among others.

Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Transfer back to Kampala and departure

After breakfast, you will checkout of your lodge and embark on a drive back to Kampala with en-route lunch in Mbarara, have another stopover at the equator landmark for pictures. Proceed to Kampala where you will be dropped off either at the hotel or at Entebbe International Airport for your flight back home.
