Rwenzori Mountains National park

Rwenzori Mountains National Park.

‘Mountains of the Moon’ which is commonly used to describe Rwenzori National Park comes from a significant landmark in the Albertine rift valley region. There is nothing more relaxing than waking up in a rain forest, hearing the sounds, sensations, and sheer of the jungle’s primates, the ice snowcapped peaks, the beautiful vegetation, the beautiful land scapes, and the earth meeting the heart of Africa, all of which are a magical reminder of nature’s magnificence.

Mount Rwenzori National Park takes its name from a major landmark in the Albertine rift valley region: the block Mountain Rwenzori, often known as “the Mountains of the Moon.” She is located on Uganda’s western border with the Democratic Republic of the Congo, a few kilometers from the Equator line. The highest point on the Rwenzori, Margherita (5109m), is the third highest in Africa and is famous for its perpetual snow, despite being in the African tropics known for torrid temperatures.

The steep and rocky mountain sides are covered in vegetation of various phases, beginning with savannah grassland on the rift valley bottom and progressing through grassland woodland, moorland, bamboo, and lush and wet alpine forest.

This is a home for many mammals, birds, reptiles, insects, and other species, yet due to the steep and harsh terrain, it is sometimes difficult to spot mammals save for monkeys perched atop trees along the route system.

As a result, safaris into the Rwenzori Mountains are perfect for adventure travelers looking to perform trekking, nature walks, mountaineering, and sightseeing rather than those looking for large herds of animals wandering wherever.

The 9-day/eight-night circuit trip to the snow-capped Marghareta peak (5,110m) is one of the most beautiful on the earth, requires no prior mountain climbing expertise, and provides ample opportunity to engage with and get up close and personal with nature and Africa.

Hiking Rwenzori Mountains.

There are two sorts of trekking experiences in the Rwenzori mountains: high altitude and low altitude. High-altitude hiking can take anything from 4 to 12 days to reach the top, and most of the time, it climbs over 4000 meters.

Alternatively, we have the low altitude, which takes 2 to 4 days to trek to the mountain’s peak. To reach the top, this trip can never go higher than 4000 meters. To enhance his or her picnic adventure experience in Uganda, one might combine his or her safari with other safari sites such as national parks in the western area.

Kibale National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park are among them. All of these things will make your safari unforgettable. However, the Rwenzori mountain may be seen without combining it with other safaris, and it can make your experience very memorable. As a result, if this safari is your favorite, don’t be scared to book it.

Don’t be concerned about where you’ll spend the night on Mount Rwenzori; a solution has been put in place by erecting wooden cottages along the mountain’s routes. To your surprise, the huts are all ensuite with water, toilets, and beddings inside to make these visitors feel at ease and as if they are in homes away from home.

The tallest peak on Stanley is Margherita, which stands at about 5109 meters. The Rwenzori mountain is an inhabitant of this summit. This is a magnificent and highly impressive peak for anyone who want to trek to the mountain’s summit.

However, the trek to the peak is rather exhausting. As a result, rigorous preparations and equipment, such as trekking sticks, weather proof shoes, shelters, drinking water, a guide with a first aid kit, a ranger to hoist you, are required for success. A client who has opted to trek to the summit of this mountain will need almost 7 days to complete the journey.

We constantly advise our guests to utilize their feet when walking up Mount Rwenzori. In order to assist you in hiking successfully, our clients must be robust, physically active, and in good health. Margherita mountain is the highest mountain and is known for being a difficult and exhausting walk. However, this does not imply that you must be an expert to reach the pinnacle. The only requirement is that you have some hiking experience.

As a firm, we constantly advise our clients to take packages of 12 days or more. These packages are lengthy, allowing clients to become accustomed to the trek, enjoy his or her safari hike, and, finally, avoid various hazards of sickness while on the mountain. Alternatively, these days will allow you to participate in all of your favorite hobbies, including birdwatching alongside individuals who enjoy it. Clients who travel long distances have been helped by extending routes closer to their homes.

This has given them the opportunity to ascend the mountain, therefore enjoying and having an adventurous experience by gazing at the wonderful spectacular views of the ice snow on the mountain’s peak.

Hiking and forest trails are available to visitors visiting Rwenzori National Park. Popular hiking locations along the Kilembe path include the 4627m Mount Luigi da Savoia, which provides hikers with breathtaking views of afro-alpine flora, patches of tropical snow, and glaciers.

A two-day journey to the picturesque Lake Mahoma in the bamboo forest begins at the Nyakalengija Trailhead. The Kazinga path allows hikers a day-long trek of the north Rwenzori ridge between the Fort Portal plateau and Bundibugyo town in the Semliki Valley on the mountain’s western side.
