After an early breakfast, you will head to the Kinigi Park headquarters for a briefing at 7:00 am. The rangers will provide guidance on what to expect during the trek and how to behave in the presence of gorillas. You will then be assigned a gorilla family and offered the option to hire a porter.

The trek may take between 2 and 5 hours or longer, depending on the gorillas’ movements. Once you reach them, you will spend one hour observing their behavior—watching them feed, play, and care for their young. This is one of the most memorable wildlife encounters in the world. After the trek, you will return to your lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon, you will visit the Gorilla Guardians Village (formerly Iby’iwacu Cultural Village). Originally created as a community project for former poachers, the village is now a cultural center where visitors can learn about Rwandan traditions through dance, music, and storytelling. You will also have the chance to purchase locally made crafts.
