Detailed itinerary of 4 Day Kidepo Valley Park Safari

Day 1: Drive to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary and overnight in Kitgum

After breakfast at your hotel in Kampala, you will meet your guide and start on the drive to Kidepo Valley National Park. On this day it is not possible to make it to Kidepo, so we will have a stop at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary to track the Rhinos – one of the members of the Big Five.

Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary is the only place in Uganda where you can track the endangered rhinos on foot, when you arrive at the sanctuary you will have briefing at the Visitor’s Center and with a guide start tracking the rhinos. You will have the opportunity to see the rhinos from a short distance in their natural habitat.

After rhino tracking, continue to Gulu Town where you will have lunch and proceed to Kitgum where you will arrive in the evening for an overnight.

Day 2: Drive to Kidepo Valley National Park and evening game drive

Have breakfast and then head on a journey tko Kidepo Valley National Park arriving in mid-morning, check in at the lodge, refresh and have a hot lunch.

In the afternoon, head out for a game drive in search for animals calling Kidepo Savannah Plains home such as lions, buffaloes, giraffes, antelopes, elephants, leopards among others. Also, you will take spectacular photos of Kidepo’s beautiful landscape. The sunset is magical, the return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Morning game drive, hot springs and cultural village

Have a very early breakfast then set off for a game drive in northern side of Kidepo Valley National Park crossing the Kidepo river, in this part of the park chances of seeing ostriches and cheetahs are high. Early morning hours is the best time to see predators in action, you will also have a chance to visit the Kanatarok hot springs and also see the South Sudanese border.

After this amazing experience, return to the lodge for hot lunch and in the afternoon, go for a visit to the Karamajong cultural village. This unique culture is similar to the Masai people of Kenya and Tanzania, the Karamajong live in big settlements and many huts called the Manyattas. On this visit, you will be entertained by local dances and drama, interact with the elders of the community among others.

Day 4: Drive back to Kampala/Entebbe

Have early morning breakfast and embark on a long journey back to Kampala, the journey is approximately 10 – 11 hours, however it is very  scenic and full of adventure. Along the way, you will have lunch and proceed to Kampala reaching in the evening. You will be dropped off at the hotel or at airport for your onward flight.
