Detailed itinerary of 3 Day Murchison Falls Park Safari
Day 1: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park with a stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for Rhino Tracking
To start your safari, you will be picked up from Kampala or Entebbe at 07:00 am and drive you northwest to Murchison Falls National Park, the journey is approximately 5 to 6 hours enjoying scenic views of the landscape.
You will pass the quite rural villages, vibrant roadside markets and impressive stretches of the Nakasongora district before branching off at Nakitooma for a special stop in the late morning.
You will stop at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary – the only place in Uganda to see wild Rhinos, the sanctuary is managed by the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) and committed to the restoration of Uganda’s Rhino population.
You will have a 2 hour rhino tracking adventure on foot with a knowledgeable local ranger guide and of course you be in position to see rhinos from a few meters from you which is an unforgettable wildlife encounter.
You will have lunch at the nearby Kabalega Dinner and continue to Murchison Falls National Park arriving late afternoon, you will do a game drive as you head to your lodge for check in and overnight stay.

Day 2: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise to the bottom of the Murchison Falls
Start your day with an early breakfast at the lodge and head to the park for a morning game drive in the park’s northern section, this sector of the park contains savannah and Borassus palms, acacia trees and riverine woodland and is home to about 80% of the park’s wildlife.
Some of the animals to lookout for during the game drive include jackals, patas monkeys, olive baboons, elephants, giraffes, warthogs, lions, buffaloes and several species of antelopes such as Oribi, Kob, Jackson’s Hartebeests. Topi, Waterbuck and Bushbuck. You will also see a variety of bird such as the iconic Shoebill, rare Pel’s Fishing Owl, Saddle-billed Stork, Red-winged Grey Warbler, African Dwarf Kingfisher, Goliath Heron, Abyssinian Ground Hornbill, Black-billed Wood Dove, Senegal Coucal, Snowy-crowned Robin-chat and more.
After a 3-4 hours game drive, head back to your lodge for relaxation and good lunch. In the afternoon, you will go for a boat cruise to the base of the Murchison Falls. The boat cruise takes 3 hours and along the way you will see many hippos and Nile crocodiles and many bird such as shoebills, herons, African Darter, Goliath Heron, Red-throated Bee-eater and many more.
You will make a stop a few meters from below the falls, you will watch the Nile river forcing itself through a rocky gap less than 8 meters wide before falling 45 meters to what has been termed the “devil’s cauldron” below, forming a plume of spray marked by a thunderous roar and a permanent rainbow. After this exciting activity, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Visit the top of the falls and transfer back to Kampala
After a relaxed breakfast, you will drive to the top of the falls to witness the world’s strongest waterfall from a different perspective and have unique photographic opportunities. After seeing the mighty falls and taking as many photos as possible, you will drive back to Kampala for dropoff at your hotel or at Entebbe International Airport for your onward flight.
